English Creative Writing Group: The Writer’s Room

We are a group of students from the Technical University of Dortmund who just enjoy writing – from short stories and poems to blogs and novel-length projects. Our official language within the group is English in order to open it to any student of our uni. However, we basically write in any language which we think fits the individual story best… So if you like to write or would like to get into it, if you are looking for feedback or simply people to share your passion with, feel free to stop by.

English Reading Group

This is an open group which anybody is welcome to join. Over the course of the semester we will meet four or five times to discuss a text that everybody has read and prepared for that day. The Reading List is open to suggestions by all participants, and we will decide at the beginning of the semester which books we are going to read.
Students who are interested in participating are kindly asked to send an email to cyprian.piskurek@udo.edu

English Theater Group

The English Theater Group is an entirely student run group of theater fans open to anyone interested in theatre and putting on a show. Our stage and communication language is English so we are open to international students, exchange students as well as any other students of the TU. If you’re not into acting, there is still plenty for you to do, we also do all of our own costume designs, set designs, directing and backstage work, so if you just want to breathe some stage air without actually acting, feel free to join anyways. We rehearse every Tuesday during the semester from 6-8pm in the Studiobühne, Room U.215 at the Emil-Figge-Straße 50, 44227 Dortmund. Come by anytime and join us for rehearsals!

 IAA Conversation Group

No need to be shy – Our new IAA Conversation Group offers a platform where you can improve your English conversation skills in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. The Conversation Group will get together to discuss films we will all watch beforehand. Your hosts from the department will rotate throughout the semester. For each session, we will announce three possible films, with the winner to be decided by popular vote via moodle.
If you are interested in attending the Conversation Group, please send a short email to sarah.neef@tu-dortmund.de.
You will then be added to the moodle classroom, where you will be able to cast your vote for the next film. Further information can be found on www.iaawiki.tu-dortmund.de. We look forward to seeing you there!
